Water heating rebates

Installing energy efficient commercial condensing water heaters is a smart way to lower your energy bills. Qualifying high-efficiency, natural gas-fueled water heating systems installed in new construction, additions or replacement and retrofit projects are eligible for rebates.

Rebates

Measure Minimum efficiency Rebate
Natural gas storage water heater ≤ 55 gallon Medium usage bin and .64 UEF or greater $100
High usage bin and .68 UEF or greater
Natural gas storage water heater .82 UEF or greater $250
Natural gas storage or tankless water heater .87 UEF or greater $300
Natural gas commercial condensing water heater (<600,000 Btu/hr) .92 TE $500 per unit
Natural gas commercial condensing water heater (600,000 Btu/hr) .92 TE $1,000 per unit
Drain water heat recovery device (DHR)   $175 per system
Pre-rinse spray valve 1.28 GPM or less $15 per unit*
Laminar low-flow restrictors 1.5 GPM or less $8 per unit*

UEF: Uniform Energy Factor

TE: Thermal Efficiency

* Cannot exceed 100 percent of cost.

Requirements

Water heaters must be natural gas-fueled to be eligible for all rebates. Indirect water heaters are not eligible. When upgrading your water heater, first identify the usage bin level, then the efficiency rating to ensure your model qualifies.

Visit the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) website to verify water heater eligibility.

How it works

  • Purchase and install a qualifying water heater or component.
  • Submit application along with dated invoice copy.
  • Receive your rebate check within six weeks of completed application.
