New construction rebates

Minnesota Energy Resources new construction rebates provide incentives to customers who install high efficiency natural gas heating systems, advanced or wi-fi enabled thermostats, qualifying appliances or a hearth product in a home that has been newly constructed. Customers who purchase a new home that participated in the Minnesota Energy Resources Home Energy Excellence program are not eligible for certain rebates under this program. Requirements

Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) certified ratings will be used to verify actual AFUE ratings for heating purposes. Customers cannot get more than one thermostat rebate. Funding is limited and can change or end at any time. Limit of one qualifying thermostat per natural gas service address. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The program application must be received within 60 days of installation. We only honor one rebate per piece of equipment. Therefore, building contractors and home buyers should determine who applies for and receives the rebate.

HRV/ERV for furnaces must provide whole house ventilation, where no HRV/ERV previously existed. HRV/ERV performance is based on SRE and CFM ratings at 32°F heating mode as listed in the HVI directory of certified equipment. Learn more about HRV/ERVs.

For ENERGY STAR window rebates, complete the ENERGY STAR high-performance windows application form. To qualify for window rebates, home must be heated with natural gas. The windows must be ENERGY STAR V7 with a minimum of 6 square feet. Find additional details on window rebates.

How it works

  • Purchase and install qualifying equipment in your home.
  • Apply and submit a rebate application online or download and mail a paper copy along with a copy of a dated invoice.
  • Online applications are available for appliances, water heaters, thermostats and fireplaces.
  • Receive your rebate check within six weeks of completed application.
